My Birthday Mani - OPI Fly

So, It's my birthday today! Okay, it's officially over in Malaysia. But who cares, it's still my birthday else where! :)


Since this is my special day, I have decided to put on a color which I do not usually wear and it's OPI Fly from Nicki Minaj collection. It's a pretty bright teal leaning towards green. It's the first color I have got from this collection and I love this color at the instant I put it on my nails. The application is effortless and can be opaque in just 2 coats. It looks a bit jelly-ish on the first coat, but after the 2nd coat, it looks creme.

Do you think this color is lovely? I do think this color is superb, but I feel that it's a bit plain just having 2 coats of polishes on my nails. It's my special day after all, I should have more special nail than my normal day right? So I rummaged my storage box for nail art tools and decided to paint some stripping lines on my nails inspired by the gift boxes below. I knew I wouldn't be receiving any present, so I decided to turn my nails into a gift.. lol

Here is the end results.. I used stripping pen with OPI Alpine snow to draw the straight line and added a little rhinestone to spice things up a little. Do my nails look like a gift boxes? :):)

I definitely need more practice on drawing straight and even lines.. lol

Candy Mani

I am never a creative person and therefore I usually just paint my nail with a single color. Plus I am super lazy, nail art is something that I would avoid doing it myself. The candy mani that I am going to show you is super easy which you do not need any additional nail art tool. I learn it from the tutorial OPI posted on their FB. 

All you need for this mani are a bottle of the sorbet color from the OPI Texas collection and a bottle of glitter polish. I am using Too Hot Pink To Hold'em from Texas collection and Teenage Dream from Katy Perry collection.

To achieve the candy look below, I have swatched the Teenage Dream in between of the 2 layers of Too Hot Pink To Hold'em. The tutorial given by OPI is to use a cream color with similar tone as base color. I suppose you could use any color at the base but use the sorbet color on top. As I am not a creative person, I couldn't recommend any other color to be used as the base color. :)

This mani really does look great in person and it is super easy to do! Just like normal nail painting without having all the hassle. I definitely would try again with another glitter color, I wonder how it look if we replace the glitter with the recent flakies.. worth trying isn't it?

China Glaze First Mate and NYC Starry Silver Glitter

I was super busy after I had started this blog. It was all about Christmas, business trip and Chinese New Year in the past 2 months. I had no time to share although I was painting my nail regularly, and that made this post the first nail polish post after so long. 

Most of the blues doesn't work well with my warm skin tone. Therefore I was trying to avoid adding blue into my stash. I told myself last Oct that I should be more experimenting to find the perfect blue for myself. I then got myself 3 bottles of different blues (China Glaze First Mate, Blue Year's Eve & Skyscraper). Today I am going to show you China Glaze First Mate. I got this color by accident, I was originally ordered another color from the same collection but the seller accidentally sent the wrong color. I thought this color was very pretty indeed so I decided to keep the color.


I have gotten this bottle for 2 months now but have no courage to try it on since I have a phobia on blue polish on me. I finally took up the courage and put it on me. At first I was worried, but once it was on, I was "Wow"... This is such a beauty! 


Decided to add a little spice, I had overlaid it with NYC Starry Silver Glitter which I purchased in Target while I was The States last Sep. The result is really satisfying and I keep staring on my nails since I have it on.

This is 2 layers of China Glaze First Mate with 2 coats of NYC Starry Silver Glitter. I also applied Seche Vite in between First Mate and the glitter to ensure smooth applications. I used Poshe Base Coat and Poshe Top Coat for the final touch.
